Revive the Biblins Bunkhouse

Log Cabin set on a hill surrounded by trees.

A Home for Adventure & Learning

The Biblins Bunkhouse has been a cherished base for schools, Scouts, and youth groups for generations, but since 2013, the bunkhouse has stood empty.

We’re on a mission to restore it into a safe, inclusive, and sustainable space for young people.

The Biblins Bunkhouse was built in the 1960, with young people involved all the way from digging the foundations to adding their hand cut shingles to the roof!
Sadly had fallen into disrepair and was condemned in 2013. When Woodcraft Folk took on managing the site in 2018 we immediately started to consult regular site users, and keeping up the tradition of involving young people asking them to share their designs and wish lists for a future bunkhouse.

The project had to be put on hold in 2020 as the site faced uncertain times with the closures due to the pandemic. However in 2024 the working group restarted and were successful in attracting in-kind support from the Design for All Team.

The Design For All team have proposed a design which keeps the character of the existing building, alongside an extension to provide all that groups need for their stay.

  • Providing a safe and inclusive space for young people to connect with nature.
  • Restoring a vital resource for schools, Scouts, Woodcraft Folk, and other youth organisations.
  • Building a sustainable, future-proof facility that will serve generations to come.

Be part of the transformation.

To take the first step, we need to raise £20,000 for vital structural surveys of the existing building and surrounding land. Your support will help bring this hub of outdoor learning and community back to life
