Dave Boon (Chair)

Dave is a website developer, who will support the development of a digital marketing strategy for Biblins, maximising the exposure of the site online and via social media.

In addition to his professional skills, Dave has a great fondness for the Biblins site, and a passionate desire to see it grow and thrive – throughout his 30-year association with Woodcraft Folk, he estimates he has taken groups to camp at the site on more than 20 occasions!

Kathryn Hall (Secretary)

With 25 years’ experience as a business development manager and programme director in the health service and the energy industry, Kathryn is currently Associate Director for Service Improvement and Redesign, working across the NHS in Gloucestershire.

In addition to proven programme and project management skills, Kathryn has significant expertise in public communication and engagement, and has successfully involved service users in co-production initiatives – experience she is looking forward to using to put Biblins’ users at the heart of Woodcraft Folk’s stewardship of the site.

Eric Lucas (Treasurer)

Ann MacGarry

As well as being a longstanding volunteer leader with Gwerin y Coed (the Woodcraft Folk in Wales), Ann works as the Education Officer for the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT). Renowned for its pioneering use of renewable energy, CAT also has a highly regarded education and schools programme, which has been shaped by Ann’s expertise in environmental education, and informed by her experience as a teacher of Design & Technology.

Direct marketing to schools, and managing residential visits to CAT’s self-built eco-cabins, was central to Ann’s role, and is directly relevant to building up the use of Biblins by educational groups. She is particularly keen to explore the opportunities to use the site to deliver engaging sustainability education to young people.

Margaret Fleming

Margaret leads an educational consultancy focusing on Education for Sustainable Development and Science Education. She is also a trustee of the charity Sustainability Environmental Education (SEED), and on the management board of the Sustainable Schools Alliance.

Her experience in Science Education and her extensive links with schools will support Woodcraft Folk’s efforts to market the site and its facilities as a base for environmental education.

John Tippins

John is a retired university lecturer, and member of the Royal Society of Biology. He also has 20 years’ experience as a volunteer with Woodcraft Folk, and has taken many groups of young people away on camping and residential trips. He has significant experience of successful fundraising via grant applications, and supports Woodcraft Folk’s national office as a voluntary fundraising consultant.

John is also a qualified electrician, and is therefore well placed to offer a unique mix of financial, administrative and practical support to the project.

Jenny Thompson

Jenny is a volunteer leader with 20 years’ experience of leading groups, residential trips and camps with Woodcraft Folk. She has previously served on the Management Committee of Lockerbrook Farm, Woodcraft Folk’s longest established outdoor centre, which has given her a keen insight into running a highly regarded and financially successful centre.

Jenny has also been Chair of our Regional Committee for the South West for four years, giving her practical experience of overseeing and managing Woodcraft Folk staff, and excellent working relationships with key volunteers at many of the groups in the immediate catchment area of the Biblins site.

David Hall

David works as a Consultant Clinical Scientist within the NHS, and in addition to volunteering as a Woodcraft Folk group leader, is a governor at a secondary school in Gloucester. Over the last five years, David has taken groups of young people to Biblins and other sites in the region to take part in outdoor pursuits.

From his professional life, David brings skills in team management, strategic planning and data analysis which will support the effective governance of the project.

Mike Holmes

Mike is currently self employed as a facilities consultant who works across both the public and private sector providing specialised advice to clients. Over the last four years, Mike has attended Biblins with Cheltenham Woodcraft on three occasions.

From His professional life, Mike brings skills and experience in business management, building management, Health and Safety, and site management which will support the continued development of the site for the future.
