Directions

From the A40, Ross-on-Wye to Monmouth road, leave the dual carriage way at Crockers Ash, and follow the signs to Biblins Campsite. Note that access is via a single vehicle width track with passing places, which is unsuitable for coaches or vehicles over 6ft wide.

Special arrangements can be made for coaches to approach from the Gloucestershire side of the river via 3 miles of forestry track. This is a locked route and only available by prior arrangement with us. Your group will then need to carry their luggage over the suspension footbridge.

It can also be arranged for mini-buses to access the Glos. side of the river when groups have a need to for activities.

SAT NAV / NARROW LANES

Please be aware that the lanes close to Biblins Camp Site are very narrow, with passing places, and that some Sat Nav systems have directed previous campers along Sandyway Lane, which is NOT suitable for large vehicles.

If you are arriving along the A40 from the north (ie from Ross-on-Wye), leave the A40 at the turn for Stoney Hill Industrial Estate; Crockers Ash and Doward. Then turn immediately right and remain on this road for about half a mile – do not turn left into Sandyway Lane (opposite). After half a mile, turn left at the sign to Doward and Biblins (also signed toward Doward Park Camp Site). Remain on this road until you reach Doward Park Camp Site and then follow the adjacent Forestry Track down the hill to Biblins.

Coach Access Route

Coach access to the site is at NGR SO 572126, on the Gloucestershire side of the river, via approx. 3 miles of forestry track, graded and rated for 40 ton timber lorries.

Coaches regularly use this route and have not had problems in the past. Coaches park and turn next to the footbridge, whilst passengers access the site by crossing the bridge – carrying their kit with them.

The access track is controlled by a locked barrier – secured with a combination padlock – code given upon booking.

Please note the access to the site from the Herefordshire side of the river is via a single track road and, hence, is NOT SUITABLE FOR COACHES.

Directions

1. Leave the A4136 Monmouth – Gloucester road, at Berry Hill Turnpike, just outside Coleford. The road is sign-posted to Christchurch, Symonds Yat, English Bicknor.
2. Follow this road for about 800m.
3. Pass the “No Through Road” sign to Marian’s Walk on the left.
4. Take the next turning left, into the forest, opposite Kells Road.
5. If you reach the signposted turning to Christchurch/Bracelands campsite, you have gone too far.
6. Follow the main track around to the left, ignoring all side turnings, to arrive at the locked barrier. Once passed through, please lock again behind you.
7. Proceed down forestry track, take the first turning to the right. Follow the main track straight down to the river. Turn left and proceed to the bridge, where there is a turning / parking area.
